ADDERLink INFINITY plays a key role in Facebook's state-of-the-art broadcast and event spaces in new innovation hub

When a tech giant like Facebook moves to a new seven-storey location in the centre of London, it’s natural to pay attention to its choice of products and solutions. After all, when a company goes all out to push boundaries, it is certain to choose the most innovative forward-looking solutions on the market.

So, as Facebook celebrates its 10th year in the UK by creating a new tech hub for employees in London’s Rathbone Square, all eyes are not just on the design but also on the technology selected to optimise productivity.

Thanks to the ADDERLink Infinity solution, a fully flexible IP-based KVM matrix is being used to extend, switch and manage the AV and USB resources in a state-of-the-art broadcast studio and a trio of event spaces, which all play a starring role in the hub of innovation. Linked from a central control room, each space has been designed to allow local or remote control of the core AV components to provide a more collaborative workflow, while events can still be run in all four main spaces concurrently.

AV Magazine says that Facebook AV design and deployment engineer, Morgan Cameron, “wanted to make the control room as comfortable as possible because the technicians will spend a lot of time in the space.” This is where the wellbeing and ergonomics of Adder’s KVM technology will offer a huge benefit with the physical computers relocated into a separate room.

The new hub has been described as “one of the most technical complex spaces outside of the US” and account director for local partner AVMI Alex Crewdson remarks: “There’s no room for compromise when it comes to the products Facebook use. - it’s always best in class. They go with the right product for the job, so the quality of the system is the best we’ve worked on.”
